Connor Simmons, 18, a freshman at Purdue, was found dead in Wiley Residence Hall Sunday
The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office is investigating after a Purdue student was found dead on campus Sunday afternoon.
According to a news release from the office, officials responded to the 500 block of N. Martin Jischke Drive on a call of a person who was found dead at around 4:36 p.m. on Sunday.
The office identified the person who was found dead as 18-year-old Connor Simmons of Lafayette.
On Monday, officials with the coroner’s office performed an autopsy.
The release said that Simmons’ cause of death is pending. Officials said that there was “no significant trauma or injuries found during the autopsy” and no foul play is suspected.
“Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to the family and we hope they are respected during such a difficult time,” the release said.
Officials said that this is an ongoing investigation with the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office and the Purdue University Police Department.
A vigil and prayer service will be held for Connor Simmons at Lafayette Central Catholic Jr./Sr. High School’s McHale Gymnasium, located at 2410 S. 9th St., Lafayette — the school he graduated from last year.
