Who was Jimmy Wilkerson?
Born on January 4, 1981, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, Wilkerson became a local legend during his time at Paul Pewitt High School before shining on the national stage.
He played college football at the University of Oklahoma, where he made an impressive mark with 130 tackles, 12 sacks, and four forced fumbles across 38 games.
In 2003, Wilkerson was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. He played with the Chiefs until 2007 before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, and Seattle Seahawks during his professional career.
Wilkerson reached career highs in 2009 while playing for the Buccaneers, amassing 46 tackles, six sacks, and two forced fumbles. Unfortunately, a torn ACL that same year ended his season prematurely.
After retiring from the NFL, Wilkerson transitioned into coaching. He served as a defensive line coach at Texas A&M-Commerce and later at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
He remained a mentor to many young athletes, continuing to inspire with his passion for the game and dedication to his community.
