Richard Quinones Passes Away After Surfing Accident in Malibu

Richard Quinones, a Colombian-American Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles, has passed away.

He died in a surfing accident in Malibu while taking a personal day off.

This unexpected loss has left friends, family, and colleagues in shock.

Marc Debbaubdt, a fellow attorney, shared the sad news on Facebook, writing, “I have been informed that Deputy District Attorney Richard Quinones took a personal day yesterday and tragically passed away in a surfing accident. No further information is available at this time.”

Quinones, a dedicated public servant, was known for his professionalism in the courtroom. One Facebook user commented, “Truly sad news! Loved his professionalism in the courtroom. Sending condolences to his family!”

Another netizen shared, “OMG. Heartbreaking. May his memory be a blessing.”

A co-worker fondly remembered their recent interactions, saying, “I was literally talking and texting with him Tuesday morning about our case. We both appeared by Webex. Richard was my guy. We were supposed to go have some cigars after work soon.”

Richard Quinones was born in Colombia and moved to the United States with his mother.

He overcame language barriers and worked hard to succeed, graduating from university and serving as a bilingual elementary school teacher before attending law school.

After becoming a lawyer, he spent over two decades as a Deputy District Attorney, dedicating his career to public service.
