Motorcyclist, bicyclist die in collision near San Antonio; one wounded

A collision between a motorcyclist and a bicyclist left both riders dead and a passenger on the bicycle wounded in Schertz.

Schertz police identified the motorcyclist as Cameron Rash, 32, of Schertz. The bicyclist was identified as Charles Tage, 60, of San Antonio.

The collision occurred Sunday night about 11:20 p.m. as they were at the FM 1518 and Schaefer Road intersection.

Exactly what caused the collision remains under investigation by both Schertz police and the Texas Department of Public Safety, officials said.

Both Rash and Tage died in the collision, Schertz police said. Authorities did not go into specifics of what might have caused the crash, citing the ongoing investigation.

A passenger who was riding with Rash on the motorcycle was identified as Ashley Bergemann-Echeverri, 37 of San Antonio. She was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police called it a “tragic accident,” sending their heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.
