Canadian Midwifery Programs
The baccalaureate-level midwifery education curriculum lasts for three to four years on average. In Canada, there are now six programs for aspiring midwives. Education programs are “direct entry,” which implies that entry does not require a nursing degree or any other certificate. Exams that have been approved by the corresponding provincial regulatory agencies are given by each program.

McMaster University – Midwifery Program
In addition to clinical courses, the nine-term, four-year curriculum offers courses in basic sciences, social sciences, health sciences, and electives. There are many different course forms, including traditional classroom settings, online conferencing, and print-based self-study courses. Small-group tutorials, self-directed activities, and hands-on learning experiences in both lab and clinical practice settings are some of the teaching techniques used.
Mount Royal University – Bachelor of Midwifery
In the sole midwifery degree program in Alberta, students combine theory and practice while giving care to women who are expecting children and their families. With this degree, you can enter the expanding area of midwifery as a primary healthcare provider. The Canadian Midwifery Registration Examination and becoming a registered midwife are both opportunities for graduates. Only English is provided for this program.
Toronto Metropolitan University – Midwifery Education Program
During the pre-clinical phase of the program, midwifery students take classes in health, social, and biological science. Students begin the clinical phase of the program after successfully completing the pre-clinical program, which consists of six terms of midwifery clinical and transdisciplinary assignments. As they gain the capacity to assume the role of primary healthcare provider, clinical placements give students the chance to combine their academic knowledge with clinical abilities.
