Renowned Oncologist Dr. Felix Feng Passes Away

The medical world is mourning the sudden passing of Dr. Felix Feng, a distinguished radiation oncologist and researcher specializing in prostate cancer.

Dr. Feng passed away on December 10, 2024.

Dr. Feng served as the George and Judy Marcus Distinguished Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

He was Vice Chair for Translational Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology and director of the Benioff Initiative for Prostate Cancer Research.

Throughout his career, Dr. Feng made groundbreaking contributions to prostate cancer treatment.

His work focused on identifying genetic factors influencing treatment resistance, aiming to develop personalized therapies.

Using advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, he was committed to improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Feng’s remarkable career included publishing over 200 journal articles and earning numerous accolades, including the prestigious 2024 Mentorship Award from the American Society for Radiation Oncology.

An outpouring of grief followed the news of his death.

Tributes flooded social media, with colleagues, friends, and patients honoring his memory.

Dr. Feng’s academic journey began at Stanford University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences in 1998.

He received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2002.

Following his residency and fellowship at the University of Michigan, he became a leader in translational genomics and prostate cancer care.

In 2016, he joined UCSF, further advancing research and providing exceptional care to prostate cancer patients. Dr. Feng’s compassionate nature and dedication to his field earned him immense respect and admiration.

Dr Feng is survived by his wife, Dr Mary Feng, and their children, Eric and Emily.
