Parents killed in ‘apparent murder-suicide’ in Dinuba Identified

The parents killed in an apparent murder-suicide that took place early Tuesday morning have been identified by the Dinuba Police Department.

Police say around 3:25 a.m. they received a call for a welfare check to a home in the 300 block of Hollow Way. Immediately afterward, officers received a second call for a possible assault that was taking place.

Responding officers reported a child told them his parents, identified as 33-year-old Jordan Porras and 33-year-old Amie Porras (both the same age) were dead.

Police then found the two parents unresponsive with apparent gunshot injuries.

Investigators on the scene pronounced Amie Porras dead at the scene but transferred Jordan Porras to a local hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

The two children were uninjured and taken into protective custody.

“She had the biggest heart and was so encouraging and those are people we need in our lives,” said Micalah, Amie Porras’ friend.

Detectives report firearms were located at the home and are actively investigating the incident as an apparent murder-suicide.

“It appears both individuals had gunshot wounds and one appeared to be self-inflicted,” said Dinuba Police Chief Abel Irarte.
