About Uncharted Movie
The 2022 action-adventure movie Uncharted is based on the same-named video game series created by Naughty Dog and distributed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway. In addition to Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas playing supporting parts, it stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. In the movie, Drake is hired by Sullivan to compete with mercenary leader Jo Braddock (Gabrielle) and unscrupulous tycoon Santiago Moncada (Banderas) for control of the rumored wealth of the Magellan expedition.
Uncharted Movie Production
The movie started production in 2008 after producer Avi Arad announced that he would be collaborating with Sony Pictures to create a movie based on the video game series. With numerous directors, screenwriters, and cast members connected at various times, it was in development hell. In the beginning, Wahlberg was slated to play Drake while David O. Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy, Dan Trachtenberg, and Travis Knight were signed on to direct. In May 2017, Holland was selected to play Drake, while Fleischer was appointed as the film’s director in early 2020. In March 2020, filming got under way, but the COVID-19 epidemic forced a halt to it. With stops in Boston, New York City, Barcelona, and Indonesia, it resumed in July and ended in October.
When Was Uncharted Movie Released
Originally set to be released on December 18, 2020, the film faced major delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It eventually premiered at the Coliseum in Barcelona on February 7, 2022, and was theatrically released in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing on February 18. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who found the film to be a misleading adaptation of the video games and also underwhelming compared to other adventure films. The film has grossed $401.7 million worldwide, making it the fifth-highest-grossing video game film of all time. A sequel is currently in development.

As someone who’s played every Uncharted game multiple times and gotten 100% completion in each of them, I can absolutely say that this was a fantastic movie adaptation of the series! Tom Holland hit all the right beats of Nathan’s personality. I was honestly a bit skeptical if he could do it at first, but he managed to bring Nate’s charm, wit, humor and heart in a way that was all his own. It really felt like it was Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake without it feeling like a cheap impression and I cannot wait to see more of him in the future! Mark Wahlberg did a pretty good job with Sully too and he did a nice job of showing off his seasoned, yet deeply caring personality. Sophia Ali also did a fantastic job with Chloe and all of the twists and turns of her character were handled perfectly! The remainder of the cast also did a pretty good job with their roles as well.
In terms of the story, they really nailed that Uncharted feel. The globe-trotting, treasure hunting feel was persistent throughout the whole movie and it honestly felt like something out of the game. Even the slower moments of solving puzzles and unraveling the mystery of where to go next was translated surprisingly well! The action was also awesome! It had that high energy feel and I particularly like how they showed off Nate’s more improvisational side to his combat. As for the set pieces, they were incredible! The mix of old and new set pieces were really great to see and they really nailed the energy and intensity that you would traditionally feel if you were playing through them in the games.
Overall, this was a fantastic movie adaptation that really captured the feel of the Uncharted games while still managing to be a fresh take of its own! Whether you’re a longtime fan of the series or you’re completely new to it, you’ll absolutely have fun with this movie! I really enjoyed it and I am so ready for the sequel!

I remember playing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves a few years back thinking “THEY NEED TO MAKE A MOVIE OUT OF THIS”, and now years later, they did! I was stunned knowing they were finally going to bring one of my all time favourite games to the big screens. Seeing the cast though did have me a little skeptical, I never imagined Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as the main faces of Uncharted. Butttt I stepped into it with a strong heart and positive mind and OMG I was blown away! Their performances were beyond my expectations. Tom did such an amazing job portraying Nate’s persona (the brains, the charm, the wit and energy) and Mark also did a great job per usual portraying Sully’s persona (the stubbornness, the wit, the stay back and look out). Let’s not forget about Sofia as our one and only Chloe. I love how they fit every moment from every Uncharted game all into one 2 hour movie. Ahhh the scene where Nate and Chloe walk up onto the shore and the voice actor to Nate in the game is on the beach seat! THAT was ICONICCCC. They placed every element perfect show casting Nate’s childhood with his brother Sam. Puzzling out areas. Locating an area that wasn’t quite the area haha. The action scenes were PERFECT. I can say no less, this movie was beautiful. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Looking so forward to the sequel. Now excitedly waiting for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Yay! I know you all will enjoy this movie if you’re definitely a die hard fan like myself. Even if you’re not, I’m sure this’ll have you on the edge of your seat.

So this movie is fantastic you had plenty of good action scenes and some great actors/actresses in the movie including Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg and the stunning Sophia Taylor Ali and they were all amazing of course especially Tom Holland and it’s nice to see him playing a role other than spider-man even though he is amazing at that too. You also had some amazing locations in this movie and amazing scenery too. Also I recommend that you stick around after the movie finishes because their is a extra scene that hints to a uncharted sequel movie I mean come on wouldn’t that be great and just to warn you at the end of the movie their is a bit of a shock so be prepared for that too.
So this movie is very relatable to the Uncharted Games in the sense that they are on a treasure hunt and you have the characters from the game too including Nathan and Sam Drake and Sully too and you get to see other relatable things throughout the movie too that relate to the game series. So yeah I recommend that you play at least the latest uncharted game if you haven’t just so you know what Uncharted is about and who all of the people are but if you don’t it doesn’t matter entirely you will still really enjoy the movie. So yeah as far as a game adapted movie goes I’d say this one is pretty amazing to be honest I mean it could have been better but it could have been worse too. I felt that Tom Holland was a amazing choice for playing Nathan Drake but not so sure about Mark Wahlberg I mean don’t get me wrong he was good but just not quite sure if he was the right fit for sully.
So overall I’d definitely recommend you to watch this action-packed adventure movie and wether you played the Uncharted Games or not you will still find this movie very enjoyable and entertaining to watch.
Update: I have seen this movie twice now I saw it in IMAX this time and it was just as amazing as the first time and when you see a movie the second time you can sometimes notice bits in the movie that you missed the first time like that man on the sunbed in the movie on the beach he reminds me a lot like someone, Uncharted fans will know who I mean. Anyway it’s a amazing movie so if you haven’t seen it yet then what are you waiting for I mean I know the critics where a bit harsh on this movie but don’t listen to them just go and see the movie for yourself and see what you think you might like it or you might not but at least you will know but you most probably will like it because I know that I definitely did.

I was a bit skeptical of the cast at first, but still walked into the cinemas without any expectations. And my, I LOVE IT! Tom Holland did a wonderful job capturing Nathan’s cheeky personality, with that I was so immersed into his character that I even forgot that he is the Spiderman. Not to forget Sully, I was quite let down when he came out without a mustache…come on, who’s Sully without his mustache right?…but damn, I love him, top it off with both Nate’s and Sully’s amazing chemistry, the scenes between them are full of fun and humour. Love Tom and Mark together! The cinematics were amazing, and well done to the costume designers who marvelously captured the essence of Nate’s and Sully’s outfits. All the cast were amazing, which is not what I expected. And even the legend himself, Nolan North made a funny guest appearance there😆.
To sum up, if you’re a fan of the Uncharted video game series or even an adventure seeker, definitely watch it! You’ll defintely want to watch it for the second time! As a matter of fact, I’ll be watching this for the second time next week! Can’t wait for Uncharted 2 with Sam in it, and his prison break lie🤣

Having spent hundreds of hours grinding each Uncharted game to 100% completion, and thousands more hours into their multiplayer experiences, I can say I loved this movie as an ode to the fantastic video game series despite going into this film expecting the worst.
Too many people (myself included at one point) seemed to not give Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg a fair chance going into this movie due to their previous acting roles, but I can say they both allow an insight into what could be the younger versions of the characters we were first introduced to years ago. The supporting cast did a fine job being just that, a support cast, and the story flowed smoothly. I attended the movie with someone who had played some of the games, and someone who had never played any. We all agreed that it was easy to follow, and much better than we expected it to be.
Translating a video game series known for its complex story telling and encapsulating imagery into a two hour movie seemed too impossible of a task to me walking into the theatre, but the film crew did justice for a typical action/adventure film that anyone can enjoy. This film would slot perfectly into a summer blockbuster schedule if not for the wishy washy history of poor video game adaptions, and I hope Columbia greenlights the next film immediately, despite me hoping they canceled the release when I first saw the trailers and read who was casted for this film.
Lastly, there were just enough Easter eggs to do service to veterans of the franchise, but the heavy focus seemed to be creating a new story everyone can enjoy without riding on the coattails of the success from the games. My only initial critique is including the airplane scene from Uncharted 3, but despite negative expectations due to it’s inclusion in the trailers, it was used tastefully without ruining a trademark scene.

Casting Tom Holland as Nathan Drake gets 5 stars out of 5. He nails the role, bringing quiet confidence and humor to the character. Sophia Taylor Ali delivered a good performance as Chloe, too. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Mark Wahlberg playing Sully, but maybe that’s because I’m just not the biggest fan of Mark Wahlberg.
I thought this was a solid film overall. Good action, some funny moments, a little bit of character development throughout the film and set itself up for a sequel film. Is it going to win an award at the Oscars? No. But there are many worse options to pick than this if you’re looking for two hours of entertainment.

You won’tt find a bigger uncharted fan than me. I treasure the games with all my heart and I never expected the film to amount to anything, all things considered. I simply wished thise who wrote the script showed it as much love as Denis Villeneuve showed in Dune.
The movie deserved better, but it’s still an uncharted adventure. Sure, some things got totally retconned, but that was probably expected.
It was fun, but felt rushed. Everything happened too quickly. Some parts didn’t make sense and the plot unfolds a bit too Deux ex machina like.
I want more. A lot more. I hope that if they do make this sequel, they do it justice.
And for the love of a that is sacred, please have the actors not named Tom play the damn games.
Thank you for reading the review of uncharted movie, we hope this review has convince you to watch the movie.
