A 60-year-old woman died following an ATV crash in Colorado’s National Forest, according to authorities.
The incident occurred near the Park and Teller County line, with recovery efforts taking place in rough terrain.
According to the Park County Coroner’s Office, Shelley Maree Ekstrom of Conifer, Colorado, was identified as the victim.
Ms. Ekstrom went missing on Tuesday night and was discovered deceased the next morning. Authorities confirmed she had died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
This tragic incident prompted a multi-agency response, including the Park County Sheriff’s Office, Search & Rescue, and 911 Dispatch.
Additional support came from the Lake George Fire Protection District, Ute Pass Regional Ambulance, and Flight for Life Colorado.
Authorities expressed their condolences to the family of Ms. Ekstrom, acknowledging the difficulty of the terrain during the recovery.
