Around 3,000 of its students are international and come from about 125 different nations.
Each year, the university sends more than 1,100 students to more than 80 different countries through its study abroad program. Partnerships and collaboration agreements with universities in 140 different countries enable this.
The university maintains a campus in Doha, Qatar, in addition to its primary location in Canada, which became operational in 2007. Over 50% of the university’s academic members possess degrees from institutions abroad, totaling close to 1,823 across all of its faculties.
Additionally, 50 research institutes and centers are run by the institution.
It has a research revenue of $325 million and an endowment that is estimated to be worth $790 million.
The university colours are red, gold and black. Its mascot is a Tyrannosaurus Rex (named ‘Rex O’Saurus) and its sports teams go by the name of Calgary Dinos.
Over 162,000 graduates are part of its network. The astronaut Robert Thirsk, who holds the Canadian record for the longest space journey and most time spent in orbit, and the former Canadian prime leader Stephen Harper are two among them.
Bermuda Shorts Day (BSD), an annual celebration in April that commemorates the end of semesters, is one of the university’s customs. Students participate in a sizable campus event that includes bands, barbecues, and beer gardens in addition to donning shorts on BSD.
“I will lift up my eyes” is its Gaelic motto.
